I've been using Beth's suggestion: Use an plastic flight base, drill
holes
in the shaft, and mount fighters on paperclip wire set into those holes.
It
looks really, really good, especially with my Sa'Vasku. The dice are
currently following them around the table, but I can live with that.

GW Mailorder had a sale last week, so I took the opportunity to pick up
some
of their BFG fighters (along with some plastic jungle trees, which look
surprisingly good with a coat of green ink). I have to say, I was
pleased.
The prices aren't all that bad -- $1.50 for four fighters -- and the
detail
is really nice. They are molded with small bases, designed to fit into
the
Epic infantry stands, but these could easily be snipped away. I
especially
like the Gunboats. They have a nice, unique look to them. Frankly,
I'll
probably buy a few more at some point in the future.
Along with the order, I got a copy of their mailorder magazine, which
had
pictures of Imperial Transports (which look just like Imperial
destroyers),
and the new Ork ships. The ork stuff is...okay, I guess. Not my cup of
tea.
This reminds me (as I ramble) of a question: Does anyone know if the new
BFG
eldar ships are symmetrical, or do they only have the one sail sticking
out
of their side. It's damned hard to tell from the pictures that I've
seen
