Hey everyone, being on the subject of naval assets, I thought you would
appreciate this bit of humor a friend of mine just e-mailed me. This is
truly a gem to modern 'technology' and what happens when you think you
have all of the answers.
Being American military myself and having friends in the Canadian
military, I can appreciate the finese involved here.
Enjoy
Gil

Aren't you glad you're not Navy?!?!?!
The following dialogue was released by the Chief of Naval Operations
in 1995. It highlights that might does not always make right, and
things may appear to be different than they really are. But the true
lesson to be learned from the conversation below is that it is better
to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it!
Americans: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the North to avoid
a collision.
Canadians: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the South to
avoid a collision.
Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert
YOUR course.
Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.
Americans: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS LINCOLN, THE SECOND
LARGEST SHIP IN THE UNITED STATES' ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED
BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I
DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH, THAT'S ONE FIVE
DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE
SAFETY
OF THIS SHIP.
Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.
