Are you thinking of Traveller Strategic Battles(Possibly to be released
early '97)?  Four versions of Traveller have already been produced -
Traveller, Traveller: 2300, MegaTraveller, and Traveller: The New Era. 
BTW
Traveller Strategic Battles will be running at GenCon this year.

*Traveller: TNE - Fire, Fusion, and Steel

Games:
*Traveller: 2300 - Design rules are ok, some interesting hull armor
options
and masking concepts.
*Battle Rider - Simpler version of BL.
*Brilliant Lances - Design rules are very detailed.
