The actual APC version DOES have its small turret at the front, for
exactly the reason you mention. The ones with the rear-mounted
turrets are the FSV versions which are weapon carriers, not troop
carriers. In the case of the FSV mortar version, I would think that
most of the rear bay would be stacked with huge amounts of ammo to
keep the twin rapid-fire autoloading mortars well fed.
