have seen pictures of Strikers that have made it back to base with
shattered wheels, something that a tracked vehicle that suffers track
damage can't do. 
I think that is where the "ignore mobility kills on multi wheeled
vehicles" comes from. A Striker or LAV can proably lose 2-3 wheels
before becomming immobilised on the spot whereas a broken track link
could immobilise a Bradley or M113 type APC.
