I am playing enough 'modern' games that 'realistic near projected
future' doesn't hold much attraction for me.

A game based on a specific background (b or c) is much more attractive
as it enables players to easily identify with the game. Whether you
give me a game with a fixed system and background, or a flexible
system with background specific army lists is I think less important.
