What do you mean by a clasp? Could you link to an example on, say,
amazon?
I'm about to build a 15mm army and I'd love a solution to this
problem. I have *many* space fleets and they are always breaking off
from their stands, so this applies there too.

11mm aluminum tube, and make a sleeve out of a smaller section of tubing
so that the magnet "hole" is flush with the top of the tube. I then
drill a hole in the bottom of the ship and mount the other side of the
magnet to it.

the bottom of the ship. Since they are only visible when the ship is
off for storage, I don't care. With vehicles, you could embed the
magnet more deeply by drilling a hole in the resin.

not found it to be a huge problem. One solution would be to make a
groove in one side of the connector an a ridge on the other that would
keep it in place. Ninja magic makes the same kind of connector, but
with teeth on it to keep it in alignment. I can't justify their prices
compared to doing it my way. :)
