Heck, put a big rock that's stabilized not to jump on your side of 
the gate if it's not able to be powered down. Ship comes in from 
other side and it materializes in the large bit of rock. Boom! Now, 
jumping into that area is a mess and hazardous because now there's 
lots of debris.
