Multiple FCS

Subject: Multiple FCS

I've been toying with Yet Another Set Of B5 Rules[1], in particular the
ELINT (ELectronic INTtelligence) stuff from B5 Wars.

The idea is to allow a ship to use multiple FCS to reduce the
effective range to the target. Each doubling of the number of FCS
used reduces the range by 2" (though this value can vary according
to tech level).

No extra equipment here, just a change to how FCS can be used, so
a fleet designed to use this may be unbalanced against a fleet not
designed to use this.

There is also an option (new equipment) to use FCS in a defensive
role, using ECM to increase the effective range of the target ship's
attacks.

See:

Also, related to this, a C&C module which allows a command vessel
to share its FCS with friendly ships. Basically, it can donate its
own FCS to all friendly ships within range against a single target
(thereby helping them reduce ranges).

This provides something FT doesn't really have - the idea of
C&C vessels which increase the effectiveness of the rest of the
fleet (and thereby making them an ideal first target).

None of this has been play tested. I couldn't find anything similar
on Firedrake's Weapon and Defences archive[2], so comments are welcomed.

[1] I'm also planning on using them for my own FT background, since
they're reasonably generic.
