Subject: Upping armor (on size 1 vehicles as a start)
Some discussion on the Brigade Models list lead to a realization that my
evaluations of size of vehicles was "one size larger" then one of the
Brigade guys (Tony) envisioned them. No Canon versus non-canon since
Brigade is designed as generic leaning towards Iron Cow rules but it
raised an interesting collateral issue.
I use the smaller SF300-206 body (was Beersheba in the "SemFed pre IC"
days now called the Oldmann) with the SF300-406b missile turret to
represent the Chipmunk Armored Recon (light) (Size 2, GMS/L, PDS/Sup and
FO fire team) and dropping it to a size one would require dropping the
PDS or GMS (no biggie) and the FO team (make the crew an integral FO
capability) but the question of armor arose in my mind.
I suspect upgrade armor rules exist in house rules a plenty but here is
some **very** early thoughts on an armor upgrade system:
Size 1 current armor 1-0-0 (front, sides, rear)
for one cap point you go to 1-1-1
for two cap points you go to 2-1-1 (max) (requires HMT or FPG)
Size two current 2-1-1
for one cap point you go to 2-2-1
for two cap points you go to 2-2-2
for three cap points you go to 3-2-2 (max) (requires HMT or FPG)
(optional - drop to next slowest movement speed - capability is the
same just reduced max speed.)
Size three current 3-2-2
for one cap point - nada
for two cap points - 3-3-2
for three cap points 3-3-3 (requires HMT or FPG)
for four cap points 4-3-3 (max) (requires FPG) (optional - drop to
next slowest movement speed - capability is the same just reduced max
speed.)
Size 4 current 4-3-3
for one cap point - nada
for two cap points - 4-4-3 (optional - drop to next slowest movement
speed - capability is the same just reduced max speed.)
for three cap points 4-4-4 (requires HMT or FPG) (required - drop to
next slowest movement speed - capability is the same just reduced max
speed.)
for four cap points (if FPG) - 5/4/4 (max) (required - drop to next
slowest movement speed - capability is the same just reduced max speed.)
Size 5 current 5-4-4
For one or two cap points - nada
for three cap points - 5-5-4 (requires HMT or FPG) (required - drop to
next slowest movement speed - capability is the same just reduced max
speed.)
for four cap points - 5-5-5 (max) (requires FPG) (required - drop to
next slowest movement speed - capability is the same just reduced max
speed.)
There should be a points cost too I suspect but have not started
ball-parking those numbers...
