There's a very nice game called "Legendary Battles", by the Canadian
Wargamers
Group  (http://theminiaturespage.com/rules/fan/lbat.html ) that I would
recommend.

The rules are simple, pretty generic, and they tend to play pretty
quickly.  Plus, it's a 
cheap investment.
