I was born in Spain, but my parents moved to Germany when I was 3 years
old. I have 2 Spanish grandmothers, a German and an English
grandfather. We used to speak Spanish at home.

Let's hope so.

Well, in the world of 2183, ancestors will be even more mixed up than
they are now. You could easily have an NSL commander named Mehmet
Demirkan. Or, even better: Ali Müller or Fritz Arsladoglou. Or a ship
named after such a commander from the past (our future). Note all the
funny Austro-Hungarian ship names. The same for the FSE or NAC, of
course.
And it is extra inspiration for FMA scenarios: various ethnic groups at
each others throats. Add in colonists/terran animosities and you can
have pretty wild mixes.
