UN ARMED FORCES

some UN bureaucrats maybe be BOZOs, LOL, but they have not quite sunk
to the level of a 3rd through 7th world free for all government yet!

the UN forces i was discussing originally WOULD NOT BE MERCs. they
would be ENLISTED for, say, 6 years active duty at a whack, with
decent pay, medical/dental care, housing, food, retirement benefits due
after a full 30 years service or after a medical discharge for active
duty disability.

the soldiers would swear and	oath to serve the UN.

the UN would arm, equip, train, cloth, pay, feed, and maintain them.
they would be provided	with garrison and staging areas in UN member
countries, with the usual STATUS OF FORCES agreements.

by law they would have no nuclear weapons, or command and control
authority over other national forces, and be restricted in size to say,
6 divisions of light infantry (airborne qualified at a minimum) with
air transport and logistical support. light armored vehicles only.
light artillery (say up to 120mm bore), mortars, anti-armor weaponry,
and the usual range of infantry small arms and machine guns.

these would be the only troops under UN command and control full time,
and would have their own professional	staffing.

they could only be deployed by order of the security council.

just some thoughts.
