Just to add to the discussion on how to run detachments/fireteams:

I usually run detachments as written in SGII with one major difference.
The 
detachment is formed with a specific mission in mind (provide supporting

fire or something) and from then on it behaves as a unit in its own
right 
until it rejoins its parent unit.
