For a good game with bugs try Kryomek (these are close combat bugs but
also 
have ranged weapons like spore launchers and corroder lances
*chuckles evilly*

Would probably translate to Stargrunt easily, I played Kryomek quite
often 
years ago, but the rulebook is still a joy to browse through
