Well the only idea of scale in the book that I could remmber was the
mention 
of the Tripod towering over the houses.
My interpretation on that was 30-40ft two storey house therefore 60ft+
Tripod.

The scout version I did was about 40mm high so that one can tower over 
the outhouse :)
