It makes me think of the boom mounted weapons from one of the Battle 
Tech vehicles. Its also not unlike the Preying Mantis Bren Carrier 
Varient from WWII.

I take it you're happy to see Java run ok for once? It seems to work 
well for me. I usually have problems on my OS X box with some Java 
type sites and IE 5 coughing up fur balls.
