DevCom's Black Widow scanners (http://www.blackwidow.co.uk) are
advertised as having a "Unique 3D Scanhead". This does scan objects
placed on the glass very well (I know, I have one). However I haven't
tried any other types of scanner so I don't know it they're
significantly better than 'normal' scanners.
