Or, for that matter, a variant on the canonical fleets. If you want to
keep
some ship designs, throw some out, or create them from whole cloth, but
still
keep some of the concepts and names in the Fleet Books, go for it. I
mostly
use canonical ships, but that's because I'm lazy. I, personally, would
like
the main human fleets to be a bit more unique. Fortunately, the game
easily
allows this.
