i am a little reluctant to answer this one but what the hell..
the pace is a standard in parade ground armies.. ie if they weren't the
short guys would end up a long way from the tallguys..	Driil sgts were
at
one time equipped with pace sticks..

In disciplined armies ie roman .. in ancients and most "trained" powder
and
shot the adherence to pace length and unit cohesion bcame even more
important as combat came closer..  So maybe the pace is not so damn
stupid
provided you use it in the context of the period you are gaming.. for
DSII
and SGII its a crock of shit.. so lets agree to disagree..?=0)
