It's the current marking for armoured vehicles of the Bundeswehr, and
has been
since the BW was founded. It's also found on the Bundesmarine's naval
ensign,
and as the national symbol on military aircraft of the Luftwaffe. Sort
of like
the gold-trimmed Blue Circle with 3 gold crowns of Sweden in that last
regard.
