[DSII] Fortress Figures tanks

Frotress Figures ( http://www.fortressfigures.com/ ) has, at long last,
rereleased their plastic 1/300 scale tanks. I've got a ton of them, and
I
have to say that they paint up beautifully -- as long as you prime them
with
some sort of spray paint, becuase acrylics will NOT adhere directly to
the
plastic that Fortress uses.

The Heavy Hovertanks, (10 for $10.00) tend to have a bit of a problem
with
the ends of the gun barrels snapping off. This, in my opinion, improves
the
apearance and I have taken to doing it with all of these tanks. They
are
aprximately 1 1/2" long, and have a very nice low profile.

The Fast Hovertanks are my favorite 1/300 tank models, bar none. They
paint
up wonderfully well, you get 20 of them for $10.00, and it's pretty easy
to
remove the gun and make an AA tank out of them. They are about 3/4"
long,
and again have a very low profile.

The Hover APCs (also 20 for $10.00) are good general purpose APCs. They
are
a lot taller than either of the tanks, and the sensor dome on the back
increases this even further. In the original castings, thse had the
highest
perecentage of bad castings -- mismolded fronts and backs, usually --
but
none of them were beyond salvaging. The APC is armed only with a small
top
mounted MG

The Missile Hover Tanks are my least favorites of the bunch, probably
because they just aren't as generically useful. I've got a handful
painted
up for use as mobile artillery. In addition to the huge missile, they
are
armed with two or three MG turrets as well. Like the Heavy Hovertanks,
which are aproximately the same size, these are 10 for $10.00.	The
missiles
are cast seperately, by the way.

So anyway, buy them. Fortress also made some good starships, which they

should be rereleasing again soon, and they apparently plan to expand the

1/300 line a bit. There were a few other packs in this line -- some
walking
tanks that I never purchased, Grav tanks that were pretty good, heavy
Grav
tanks that weren't -- but the ones now available were the best of the
bunch.

Buy them. Really. I recommend them highly.
