   Prince Henry Corporation patrol group da Gama responded to a
distress call from MV Weyland Pilgrim, at that time under attack
by the pirate Jean Chandagnac.	Weyland Pilgrim reported being
boarded, and contact was lost.	The patrol group proceeded under
full thrust to the area of the attack and initiated search
operations.  PHC combatant Fidelity, under Commander Azrael
Jones, made contact and gave chase.  At 1915 hours, Fidelity
verified contacts as Weyland Pilgrim and Chandagnac's vessel
Bocor.	The remainder of the patrol group was out of immediate
supporting range; nevertheless, Commander Jones decided to
attack.

  On initiating the action at 1915 hours, Fidelity dropped a
beacon buoy, designated locus 0/0.   MV Weyland Pilgrim, under
command of a pirate prize crew, was at 60/0 facing 3; Bocor was
at 57/3, facing 3; Fidelity at 0/0 facing 3 and had matched
velocity  with the chase.  Commander Jones realized that Bocor
had a prize crew aboard Weyland Pilgrim and was therefore
unwilling to simply use her superior thrust to break contact;
accordingly, Jones decided to engage Bocor and ignore the
freighter.  Fidelity made full thrust; Bocor responded to the
challenge, came about and made for Fidelity at high
acceleration.
  1930: Fidelity cut thrust sharply; Bocor continued to bear
down while sideslipping port.  Fidelity opened fire at 13500km,
inflicting minor damage.  Bocor's return fire was stopped by
armor.
  1945: The combatants accelerated, passed each other and both
reversed heading, firing continuously.	Fidelity inflicted
considerable surface damage to the enemy, opening a cargo bay to
space, and herself suffered a hull breach.  Bocor attempted to
target an x-ray laser on Fidelity's drives but was unsuccessful.
   2000: The combatants' cumulative velocities carried them
farther apart, despite Bocor's attempts to close; Fidelity
thrust hard astern and stayed outside Bocor's effective range.
Fidelity fired from a range of 24500km with great effect [two
thresholds].  Bocor suffered multiple systems failures and heavy
loss of life.
   2015: Bocor abandoned her prize and withdrew.   Fidelity gave
chase but was unable to close to weapons range.  At 2044,
Bocor's power plant suffered a catastrophic failure and exploded
with the loss of all aboard.

  Fidelity was later able to match vectors with Weyland Pilgrim;
the pirate prize crew surrendered on terms and was turned over
to civil authorities.  Commander Jones's victory without
casualties over a foe of 20% greater mass earned him special
commendation.  He later resigned from the Prince Henry Company
to form a private military enterprise, but returned when the
Alarishi Navy was formed and served with distinction.
   In this action, the effect of Fidelity's enhanced sensor
suite was considerable; it could, however, have been greatly
reduced had Bocor managed its velocity better and stayed in
close range.
