Rob Hofrich replied to comments which I intended to send only to him,
not the list (note to self: call a troll for applied physiognomy), on
some similarities between Far Stars Union and Alarish.

Of course, the main points about Alarish are:
 a) local governments are whatever the locals want, and there are
hundreds of local governments to choose from; and
b) we have no habitable planets.

So the FSU isn't all that similar.  It's nice to see that someone else
thinks at least partially in the same direction as I do.

I wouldn't worry about interrupting Alarishi-FSE trade.  Interrupting
AE-NSL trade would be a problem.
