Subject: What a varied group!
It never ceases to amaze me the experience base on this list.
Off the top of my head, I list (I've only attached names to the ones
that I recall)
- The Game Designer <St. Jon>
- His Acolytes <Mike Elliot and some other good folks>
- A computer game designer <W'kan of Narn>
- An Spec Ops door-kicker <Los>
- An AT weapon designer <Oerjan>
- A PysOps team leader
- An AWACS crewman
- A SAM commander
- Grunties/Groundpounders/Gropos/PBI of various flavours <Owen and
others>
- Astronomers
- Mountain Climbers
- Marine Biologist <Beth!>
- IT Professionals <a bunch of us>
- Too many Tom's to be entirely reasonable <Granvold, Anderson,
Barclay, McCarthy, Pope, and no doubt some others>
- Veterans of the militaries of Canada, USA, Australia, Germany,
several other european powers, UK
- Navy Carrier Crew
- Math and science majors galore
- At least one Illuminated individual
- A man from NY that claims to bathe rarely.... <Jon D> ;)
I've no doubt missed many more of our ecclectic group, but it strikes
me there are probably few other games systems that can claim such a
varied list of followers. Nor such a base of experience in just about
every facet of military and civilian life from which to draw, nor the
mental horsepower or computer capability to simulate, test, examine
and often break just about any proposed game mechanic.
Really, its quite neat if you sit and think about it. And the fact
we've sort of come together from all over the world. 50 years ago,
this wouldn't even have been feasible. Sobering, really. ;)
