FT: pulse torpedo damage allocation

Pulse torpedo damage is split between armor and hull.  Is the split per
die
or total damage when multiple PTs hit?

Example: 2 PTs hit, damage rolls are 5 and 3.  Is it 4 armor and 4 hull
hits 
or
5 armor and 3 hull (3&2 + 2&1) hits?
