*Ack, sputter*	Byzantines not Real Romans?  HRUMPH!  They had the
Senate until the Comnenii got rid of it.  Where's that lovely
tongue-lashing a Patrician gave to a papal envoy who had the gall to
refer to the Roman Emperor as "Emperor of the Greeks".	Something really
poetical that ended with referring to Old Rome as a city full of nothing
but confectioners and slaves.

Why a confectioner is considered to be a less-than honorable profession,
on a level with slaves, is beyond me.
