OK, thats fine for TD designs like the WW2 Jagd Panther, but what about
TDs
based on the idea of the American _turreted_ TDs such as M10 and M36
Jackson?

How about this to design TDs based on the German WWII methods? First
design
the MBT using standard DSII rulebook. Convert MBT to a TD by:
-Hull mounting main gun and increasing main gun size by one.
-Increasing signature die type by one. Why? Hull mounted gun, TD
coolness
factor!
-Increasing armour level by one on front only. Why? Better shot
deflection,
improved armour plating.
-Points cost and everything else stays the same! Why? We can assume that
heavy weapon cost is negated by the turret removal. Not quite allowed by
the
DSII points system, but it is in the spirit of the game.
By the way, in our DS2 games, we allow fixed mount weapons to fire
through the front arc or +/- 45 degrees of straight ahead as per the
DSII
rulebook optional rule.
