Black cassock with white swallow tail cross is worn in chapel and
during religious ceremonies. But during their heyday, in the Holy
Land, on Cyprus, the Rhodes, and finally on Malta, the flags and arms
of the order bore the white cross on red background, and the tabards of
the fighting men were the same.
