Fleet Book beam weapon questions

Hello all,

I seem to recall Jon mentioning a couple of months ago that an
EFSB-style
"Heavy Beam System" was being considered for the new Fleet Book.  I have
not seen any mention of this system in the recent reviews.  Did it make
it
past playtesting?  Or did it just not fit in with the new beam weapon
rules? 

Is the class 4 beam weapon more like the EFSB class 4 pulse battery or
the
old AA beam battery?  (ie, does it use the same 12" range bands as the
others now?)

If so, would larger beam weapons follow the same progression?  (double
the
mass, add a range band, increase dice by one per band - assuming thats
still the same)
