If the mobility special chit is considered, it would be prudent to buy
backup systems (engine!!) in case it is hit... I would think that only
transports and interface craft would really benifit, on the other hand,
the
US military HAS completely gone away from single-engine designs, just
because of the special mobility chit (they play DS2 also!!), barring the
F-16 and the AV-8, of course. I know that the P-3 can shut down 3
engines
to increase loiter time, so, one would think that it could lose an
engine
or two end still make it home, if not increase loiter or available-asset
time when undamaged. It would be devastating to an Assault Commander to
loose an entire unit (3 tanks) to a single lucky missile. Given number
of
mobility chits (7) I think it would behoove any design to have backup
engines... especially considering that the chance of drawing a mobility
chit is almost 6 percent.
What sort of aircraft designs along these lines has everyone come up
with?
