Subject: RE: modular star ships

I've been playing around with modular ships, trying to design a
Guardship from the novel _The Dragon Never Sleeps_. So far I've found
that giving superships anything close to capabilities listed can be a
fairly large job.
The way I've found so far is to design a modular ship with 5-6 sections.
A drive section, central core plus P/F/S sections. All hits are
allocated on the closest section. Only problem is, a decent ship costs
over 5,000 pts to design (meaning your opponent can wear you down
through attrition or swarm tactics).
