Blake's Seven

Okay, time to show what a useless memory I've got.

The original Blake's Seven:

Roj Blake -- Freedom fighter, leader, all-around good guy
Jenna -- Gorgeous blonde pilot
Ker Avon -- Computer whiz, egotist, pragmatist, survivor
Vila -- Sneak thief, coward, _great_ survivor
Gan -- strong man, but non-violent (due to implant?), loyal to friends
because he
needs someone to watch his back
Cally -- telepath, originally a freedom fighter with attitude, later
watered down to
become medic
Zen -- the Liberator's computer

Blake and Jenna, IIRC, were sent to investigate the Liberator when their
prison
ship encountered it; Avon may have been along, too. They managed to gain
control, and took Vila and Gan on board. Cally turned up in a later
episode when
the good guys investigated her planet. Zen, of course, was there all
along.

This line-up lasted for the first 2 seasons, although Gan was killed and
they
acquired Orac. At the end of the 2nd season, the Liberator was involved
in a
huge battle at "Star One", defending humanity (even the Federation) from
an
alien extra-galactic invasion. Everyone had to abandon ship (I think),
and Blake
and Jenna were lost from sight. The others managed to find and board the
Liberator, and eventually they picked up replacements in the form of
Dayna and
Tarrant. They remained part of "Avon's Seven" for the 3rd series,
prowling around
the remnants of the collapsed Federation until the Liberator was
destroyed.

The final series introduced a new ship, Scorpio, which they managed to
hot up
to something like Liberator performance (speed-wise and teleportation,
anyway
-- it didn't have the firepower, ISTR) and a new character, Soolin, who
replaced
Cally(?). Scorpio, and, in fact, almost everyone, including Blake and
Jenna, died
in the final episode. Terry Nation wrote a book which took things one
step
further, but I forget the details, other than that Vila and Avon
survived.

Of course, I haven't mentioned my favourite "character" of all, the most
memorable feature of the show for me -- the space-going Esky!

Phil, reminding people writing Liberator stats not to forget the
smaller, faster
"destroyer" counterparts to the alien DSV ships. Oh, yes, and the Lib's
top
speed was "Standard by 12", which may have corresponded to "Time Distort
24"
in Federation terms. So all we need to know is what "Standard speed"
was, or
how the Time Distort scale works... B-P
