I've used just about every base known.	Plastic stands are good for
smaller
ships.	The GZG stands are pretty good, but I'd rather not pay that much
for
them. My current favorite base is a big fender washer (about 1.25
inches
across) with a roofing nail glued to the washer. The large head on the
nail
allows it to easily be glued to the washer. The washers are quite
heavy, so
support even heavy minis fairly well. Paint the whole thing black and
glue
the mini to the nail point. The point allows you to fit about any size
mounting hole in the mini. I paint on the tick marks quickly usig a
template
and a paint pen. About $5.00 and an hour or so creates 20-30 bases.

Just a tip from your Uncle Vern

PS. US readers...Any thoughts on getting a letter writing (actually
e-mail
writing) campaign to KR at GeoHex to see if he'd be interested in
selling FT
minis without the stands, especially for the escort size vessels. I'd
love
to have a bunch of the GZG escort ships, but don't like to pay that much
for
two big bases to go with the two small ships. I'd much rather see the
bases
packaged separately. Based on the packaging of the GZG tanks, you
should be
able to get 4-5 escorts in a package....
