True. The stats never quite balance. I think the golden lesson we can
learn from this is that it is more important to get an accurate 'feel'
for the game than it is to get the 'right' number of fighters, guns,
ships etc.

I think the exact number of fighters needed can be summed up easily...

...LOTS!
