Subject: Battle for Endor
Ok, as far as I can see, this would be a good size for the fleets at the
Battle for Endor:
REBELS:
1 Moncalamari Super Heavy Cruiser (flagship, FT Superdreadnought class,
80+
mass)
3 Moncalamari Heavy Cruisers (Battleship, Battledreadnought class, 50-80
mass)
6 Moncalamari Medium Cruisers (Battlecruiser-Battleship class, 40-48
mass)
8 Moncalamari Light Cruisers (SuperHeavy Cruiser, 36 mass)
6 Mod. Nebulon-B Frigates (Heavy-Superheavy cruiser, 30-36 mass)
8 Nebulon-B Frigates (Escort-Heavy Cruiser, 26-32 mass)
12 Correlian Corvettes (Light-Escort Cruiser, 20-26 mass)
Various smaller ships that could cover the Escort Class, freebooters,
smugglers, privateers, etc...
5 Squads X-Wings (Interceptors)
5 Squads Y-Wings (Heavy Fighters)
5 Squads B-Wings (Torpedo Fighters)
5 Squads A-Wings (Fast Fighters)
5-10 Squads Z-95 Headhunters (Normal Fighters)<NOTE: These aren't
actually
pictured in the movie, but I think that the Rebellion would have
mobilized
ALL available fighters for this mission, regardless of their age>
IMPERIALS:
THE DEATH STAR II (?LARGE space station, like 200+ mass?)
1 Super Star Destroyer FlagShip (SuperShip, 110-120 mass, LOADS of
fighters,
not much in the way of offensive weaponry, few A batteries, etc.)
12 Victory Class Star Destroyers (SuperDreadnoughts)
10 Vigilance Class Star Destroyers (Battledreadnoughts)
8 Zenith Class Star Destroyers (Battleships)
6 Mod. Nebulon-B Frigates (see above)
4 Nebulon-B Frigates (see above)
8 Correlian Corvettes (see above)
Fewer smaller ships, maybe the equivalents of Escort Shuttles and
assualt
gunboats? The Empire relies far more on it's heavier ships and
fighters,
thus the escort and lower cruiser class ships would be all but ignored.
15-20 (?) Squads TIE Fighters (to represent their inferiority, all TIE
basic's might be affected by the rules for turkeys? A roll for an ace
would
still be made, but it would simply negate the turkey effect.)
12 Squads TIE Interceptors (Interceptors)
8 Squads TIE Bombers (Torpedo Fighters)
8 Squads TIE Advanced (Heavy Fighters)
6 Squads TIE Defenders (Heavy Fighters, and all TIE Defender Squads are
assumed to have an Ace present.)
Any comments? I split the Star Destroyer into 3 classes, to represent
different models and makes. This also gives the Imperials the variety
they
lack in the movies. Also, there is a lack of the Gravity Well Star
Destroyer (The class name evades me at the moment), mostly because the
Rebels simply jumped right on top of the Death Star II.
ALSO, Rebel Fighters do not have to be loaded onto capitol ships for FTL
jump, but the Rebels would be wise to keep some in reserve. All TIE
fighters SHOULD be loaded onto Star Destroyers and the Death Star to
show
the apparent 'unreadiness' of the Imperial fleet.
DEATH STAR RULES:
The Death Star fires only on a role of 6 on a d6 at the start of the
firing
phase. It has a range of 54 inches, and the Imperial player rolls 6d6.
4=1
point 5=2 points 6=2.5 points, round DOWN. Triple 6's mean that the
target
ship is destroyed, but the Death Star's gun is down for one turn before
you
can ROLL to fire again.
EXAMPLE:
One turn 1, the Imperial rolls a 6 for the Death Star's main gun (lucky
him!).
He nominates a Moncalamari Battleship and measures. The Rebel ship is
in
range, so the Imperial rolls 6d6. The roll comes out 6,6,6,2,3,1. The
Moncalamari ship is removed from play, and the Imperial can't attempt to
fire again till turn 3.
Well, there it is. I haven't seen any rules for SW on the net, but I
think
that these faithfully translate the original theme and feeling of the
battle: i.e. lots of smaller ships for the Rebels, larger ships and
hordes
of crappy fighters for the Empire.
Any comments are welcomed!
Later!
