There are less than a dozen nations that design their own tanks.

There are perhaps a dozen more nations that build tanks under liscence.

Yet almost every nation on the planet with significant land area
except Canada owns tanks.

First time I read that I missed (at 0435 hours) 'significant' and
thought
"Ireland was the 'first' nation to remove cavalry then tanks from their
armed
forces."

Of course the above comment from John assumes that for	economic,
political,
religious, etc., reasons a nation doesn't choose to do	something
different
then currently felt to be 'rational.' PRC for instance (Flawed example
but I
am not yet fully awake) chooses to buy/steal technology and build their
own
nuclear subs. India built domestically designed jets/tanks despite the

availability of better models on the market. One of the ex-WP nations
built a
trainer which it now exports despite the fact the market is flooded
with trainers
and trainer capable aircraft.
