20th-century Muslim soldiers generally wear helmets. Where Westerners
wear
berets or hats, keffiye headcloths are used by some armies. In WWI the
Turks
had a special type of helmet that was fairly flat in front. I am told
that
according to their version of Islam - in its strict interpretation- ,
the
eyes should not be shaded and the helmet allowed the forehead to touch
the
earth when praying. Nowadays Turks use the same helmets as other armies.
Of
course, they are officially secularized now. Sikhs seem to generally
wear
Turbans.
Medieval warriors used both turbans wrapped around a helmet and large
helmets that would fit over a Turban. For SF fighters, a Kevlar (or
similar)
Turban might be plausible PSB.
Big hair is more problematic. I see little alternative to pressing it
into a
helmet. A helmet with a wig-like covering might be a way out.
