The Allies were very concerned about possible German
nerve gas usage and brought over shiploads of poison
gas to use in retaliation should the Germans ever use
it.  In fact, one of the ships carrying gas had some
sort of accident (was hit by bomb?  Don't remember
exactally) and ended up spilling some.

However, the only battlefield usage was by the
Japanese against Chinese.  Gas, toxin, and everything
else they could come up with.
