Here is Owen Glover's New Israeli Defence Forces:
New Israeli Defence Forces
Interface Assault Unit
General
In outline the Battalion sized unit consists of a HQ, two company sized
Interface Assault Groups (IAG) and a Combat Vehicles Group (CVG).
CVG
The CVG comprises a HQ of two Fire Support Vehicles and two
Commnad Vehicles, a Fire Support Vehicle Troop and two Armoured
Transport Troops. The FSV Troop consists of a two vehicle HQ and 3
sections each of 4 FSVs. The Transport Troops each hold the allocations
of vehicles for each of the Interface Assault Groups,
IAG
The IAG is structured to enable a wide variety of combat roles to be
undertaken in either planetary orbit or on surface. Consequently the
IAGs
are a very closely integrated organisation and are exremely well
equipped
when compared to most other specialist forces.
The IAG HQ consists of a 4 man Command Section and a 4 man security
element.
There are two Assault Platoons and a Weapons Platoon. Weapons
provides Pathfinder patrols for surface landings, snipers and the Direct
and Indirect fire support assets that may be required in support of
operations from zero G vacuum ship boardings to a conventional ground
based assault on such targets as a Command HQ.
The two Assault Platoons are identical in organisation. They consist of:
HQ - a 4 man HQ squad, armaments include 3 Assault Rifles and a SAW.
One of the trooper's combat armour will be fitted with a C3I suite.
There are 5 Assault Squads each of 4 men. They are normally comprised
of 3 ARs and 1 SAW. Three of the Assault Squads will have one of the
AR armed troopers equipped with an integrated Advanced GMS launcher
in addition to the AR. Alternatively, depending on Mission Threat
Analysis, the AR/GMS combination may be replaced with a Heavy Anti
Material Rifle (HAMR); although each Assault Platoon will not be issued
with more than two HAMRs (in which case the GMS is usually not
issued).
The Weapons Platoon contains a small HQ, Mortar Squad, Direct Fire
Weapons Squad and the Pathfinders. The HQ consists of 4 men armed
with 3 AR and 1 SAW.
The Mortar Squad consists of 10 men; a command element of 2 men and
2 detachments each of 4 men operating 2 Light RAMs in each
detachment. Each man carries a standard AR.
The DFW Squad consists of two detachments each of 2 GMS/L mounted
on vehicles or ground mount tripods. Manning is a command team of two
men with each detachment having 4 men. Each man in the squad carries
an AR.
Finally the Pathfinders; 2 Pathfinder Teams, one to support each Assualt
Platoon, each consisting of 4 men (3 ARs and 1 SAW). The Pathfinder
Command Team has the commander and his 2IC as well as two specialist
snipers who may each be attached to a Pathfinder Team, the Assault
Platoon or operate independently. The Command Team members carry the
standard AR. The snipers are equipped with the HAMR as well as a
Personal Defence Weapon (PDW). During the conduct of Extra
Atmosphere Operations the sniper often replaces the HAMR with a laser
based weapon.
Weapons and Equipment
Assault Rifle The AR-7 produced by Shadrach Arms on NI is a 10mm
Gauss Rifle fitted with a 5 round 30mm Semi-Automatic Grenade
launcher. The Gauss operating system proving highly suitable for ZeroG
operation. FP 3, Impact d12.
Squad Automatic Weapon The MG-21 also produced on NI by Mag'ach
Intertech. The MG-21 is a carriage fed, Guass operated fully automatic
light support weapon. An integrated Electro-Optical sight enable the
firer
to observe targets without exposing himself to enemy fire although in
practice firing 'around corners' is still not feasible due to damping
problems on the Gauss action vibrations. The ammunition is normally
carried in a shoulder pack. FP d10, Impact d12.
Guided Missile Systems A revolutionary design in the GMS field, the NI
ST12 is an extremly light weight back pack mounted missile system firing
a 60mm HEAT warhead missile. The missile is a 'fire and forget' weapon
that utilises an advanced Thermal and Photon Image Recognition system
to lock on to, and track its target. Consequently it is much less
susceptible
to ECM although is vulnerable to battlefield obscuration, rain and fog.
The NI integrated shoulder harness allows a hands free operation
enabling
the firer to carry and use another small arm weapon, such as the AR-7.
The ST15 is a GMS/L normally fitted on Ground Mount Tripod or
Vehicle Pintle Mount. Essentially the same as the ST12 but firing a
longer
range missile and fitted with a larger warhead. ST12 Guidance: Superior
d10, Impact d12. ST15 Guidance d10, Impact d12x2.
Heavy Anti-Materiel Rifle Built along the same design guidelines as the
AR-7 the M2 HAMR is a magazine fed, Gauss operated Semi-Automatic
rifle that fires a 30mm sabot casing incorporating a 5mm Depleted
Uranium Core Penetrator. Against weapons control systems,
communcations equipment and actual weapons ordnance it has proved
extremely effective. FP d8, Impact d12x2.
Laser Sniping Rifle The design and specifications of the NI laser
sniping
rifle are still classified and are unavailable. After Action Report
Assessments indicate it is much lighter than conventional LSR. It is
assessed that the NILSR has a FP of d12 and Impact of d8 or d10.
Personal Defence Weapon The PDW as carried by NI specialists and
many vehicle and air crew is very utilitarian design equivalent to a
standard SMG. The PDW is a magazine fed, select fire small arm that
fires a 4.5 mm caseless round from a 30 round magazine with a cyclic
rate
of fire of 1200 rpm. It is generally used at close range only, but may
be
used at longer ranges. FP 1, (CL Range FP3) Impact d8.
Body Armour The NI specialist body armour is an extremely lightweight
silicon and carbon-ceramic laminate allowing the wearer virtually
unencumbered movement. It provides a fully sealed environment
protection enabling limited vacuum environment operations. Command
Suits have an integrated C3I system providing very advanced target
detection and EW capability. ARMOUR VALUE: d8, MOBILITY: 8" or
d8", Superior Sensors d10, enhanced ECM, d8.
Depending on Concept of Operations, combat vehicles may be either
VTOLs or more commonly Grav. Under development currently is the
LEVI, Grav Assault Vehicle (Light). This is a lightly armoured Grav
vehicle that will carry troops from High Altitude Drops onto a ground
target. The In-Service Variants will likely mount DFFG or GMS/H
systems.
MOBILITY: Grav
SIZE CLASS: 3 (medium)
ARMOUR CLASS: 3
WEAPONRY: Expected DFFG/2 and Co-Axial SAW with
Superior FC or GMS/H and DFFG/1 dual.
Command Variant will carry a twin SAW turret,
C3I suite and have 4 troop spaces.
CREW: 2
TROOP SPACES: 8 (Command - 4)
