You might want to go to my web site and see the stats we've used for
tournaments at past GenCons. They include pre-designed ship fleets in
the 1500
point range. Pick one of these a side and you'll have a good game that
lasts
anywhere from 1 to 3 hours (the tournament rules were designed for games
running no more than 1 hour, 45 minutes).

Note that these fleets aren't what you'd call "typical" as there are no
"typical" fleets. Players either build their own to a point value, play
scenarios, pick ships from the fleet books, or play the game from a
campaign
system. Every group will play the game differently.
