It is if you've ever humped an M-240 (Euros spell that
"FN MAG") and knew in your bones how heavy that is
when added to the rest of a combat soldier's load.

Anyone here ever heard of a prototype of a military
weapon LOOSING weight during the design process?? 
Usually the 1st generation design is much lighter than
the final product.
