I am about a big of an Imperium fan as there is. I had started working
on my own counters, maps, etc., to try to get some of the guys in the
are interested in Imperium when I found out about Imperium 2000. I have
both the 2nd and 3rd editions Imperium, as well as Fith Frontier War and
Dark Nebula. At one time I owned 1st edition Imperium. There are only
a few minor changes to the map between 1st and 2nd editions. 3rd
edition put the stars deleted from 2nd edition back on the map, and
added some more "planets" suitable for outposts. For example, Sol gets
MARS!!!

As far as 3rd edition Imperium goes, I will reserve judgement until I
have played it several times. I do like the changes to the supply
rules.	I also like the changes that make scoutships able to actually
scout.	I'm not so sure about some of the other changes, but I want to
play it before I judge it. For example, appeals now cost only one
glory, but there are no more free replacements for the Imperium. As far
as the map goes, in Imperium, you mostly move along jump routes, so the
3-d projection is not that big a deal.	I suspect that it will have no
adverse effect on gameplay. As for tactical ship combat, the idea is
area movement, so the range rules aren't as screwed up as they appear.
They use squares and range rules to simulate a much larger area then a
traditional approach would allow. I'm not sure if I like it, but I do
understand why they did it.

I don't know if I will like Imperium 3rd Millenium, but I do want to try
it.
