For my heavier ships--IF BB, KV BB and BC--I have used a simplex nail
(nail through a square of aluminum ribbon) and a fender washer for the
base, and drilled out the ship's mounting point to fit.  If you do
this, you should try to get the nail head flush with the ribbon so
your ship doesn't wobble--if you're at ECC you'll notice that I
omitted this step.

You should be aware that these nails would make great antipersonnel
caltrops, and consequently shouldn't be left on the living room floor.
Earring posts (also used to mount fighters and strikeboats) wouldn't
be as effective but would still work if the person who steps on them
