Subject: [GZG-ECC,DS2] Moonbase XI AAR

I ran this DS2 scenario at GZG-ECC II on Friday night.
For the background, see
http://members.xoom.com/rlyehable/ds2/moonbasexi.html.
The game went fairly well. And everyone said that they enjoyed the game.

The LLAR intelegence arm discovered the Kra'Vak (which the UN was
keeping secret, to avoid panic of course). Knowing that they would
eventually have to face the Kra'Vak, they requested information about
the aliens. The UN security council (NAC, FSE, etc.) disavowed all
knowledge.

The LLAR discovered that the UN had cached the information and physical
evidence at a small base on the Moon. A raid was planned and executed. A
cloaked taskforce entered Lunar orbit and disgorged 34 armored vehicles
and 10 power armor elements. A poor private on patrol. The private was
dispatched quickly, but not before alerting the UN defense force. The
UNDF dispatched the closest defenders (the 17th Lunar Guarde) which
consisted of 18 armored vehicles and 3 power armor elements.

The Lunar Guarde was equiped with AFV's designed for a vacuum. The LLAR
made quick conversions to vehicles that they already owned. Thus, shots
against LLAR AFV's, that hit, drew an extra damage chit.

The game turned out to be a little unbalanced. The LLAR won decisively.

Stuart led a valiant defense! His team charged the guns of the enemy
taking advantage of every bit of terrain on the table. He kept his
forces within the rules of engagement (well, almost). He even managed to
get his power armor to the base first!

The battle took a fatal turn when the LLAR took out all 3 Size 5, Grim
Heavy Tanks in one turn. The final straw was after Stuart close
assaulted the LLAR power armor, but lost too much to attrition.

Some suggestions were made to balance the scenario:
1) Start the 17th closer to the base.
2) Change the HEL/3's on the Paladin AFV's to MDC's
3) Add 1 or 2 AFV units to the 17th
4) Remove the Rules of Engagement.

Thanks to the players for a great time! And for the suggestions!
