this has happened to me when paling warhammer 40k before, a 50 ork
artifact that generated an impervious force feild 18inches long and
effectivly prevented almost all of my troops from firing at his army
and no i don't play 40k anymore

the only way i would allow some one to use wave or nova guns would be if
the playing area was increased dramatically...say like to a 12ft by 12ft
tabel, that way you'd have room to maneuver and spread out the fleet. 
And since i am the only one who knows the rules, i design all the
senerios and i get my way
