DSII: Artillery Ammo Question

On page 40 of DSII, it states "A Battery may have up to 3 ammo markers 
representing the rounds carried in the Gun vehicles themselves; 
additional ammo must be in units of transport vehicles accompanying the 
Battery."  What if the class of the artillery vehicle allows for extra 
cargo space to transport the ammo?  Light Artillery in a Class-3 vehicle

has 9 available cargo spaces.  Additional ammo can't be stored in there?
