This seems a good thread to mention that other hoary old chestnut.
The guy that gets misquoted about powered heavier than air flight said
that it was infeasible, not impossible.  If he was present at
Kittyhawk, in 1903, he would look at the flight of less than 300 feet
and say, in a proud steady voice "See, I am right! Man carrying,
heavier than air flight is infeasible.'.  In 1910, when Bleriot
crossed the English Channel, he would be forced to admit that it was
practical, after all.
