All perfectly reasonable possibilities. If human histoy has shown
anything 
its that the outcome is never guaranteed. The best defenses and plans
can 
fail and victory can be pulled out of the most dire situations.

The UNSC may have been the only thing that kept humanity from
fragmenting in 
the face of invasion and coordinated fleet actions that engaged the
enemy on 
an "all for one" basis and prevented the various human nations from
turtling 
into their own spaces and defending just their respective selves.
