Technically, outside of the old Mother type Tanks 
from WWI that were turned into APCs, the 
Canadians/British technically invented the 
Turreted Tank turned into an APC concept...

Ram Tanks (a Canadian Sherman, more or less) had 
their turrets removed and retained the front hull 
MG, and some modifications (like an armoured air 
intake peculiar to the Ram Kangaroos).
